The Enchanted Castle
Long ago, so long ago, there lived a boy called Jack who was an orphan. His maternal aunt Lucia took great care of him and he loved his aunt very much. Jack was an intelligent kid and he was quite smart too. Though they were both very happy, the constant source of irritation in their family was Lucia's husband Henry.He was a drunkard and hated the very site of Jack.His main profession was gambling and he spent money like water.He was a subject of ridicule in the town and if not for Lucia, the townspeople would have thrown Henry out of the town.Lucia's earnestness and honesty made them keep mum and at times, she would very bad and often cry about her fate. Jack used to offer words of comfort to his aunt and told her that he will make it big someday and they would live in a castle.The words of comfort always had an effect on Lucia and she would do all her work thinking about Jack and his future.
One day, while Jack was making his way through a deserted place with a friend, he saw an odd, dilapidated castle and a natural mystery aficionado, he wanted to enter the castle and explore. But his friend, on the other friend, was a timid creature and by the time he realised Jack heading toward the castle, he fled, without uttering a word. AT first, even Jack was a bit appalled but didn't want to let go of this opportunity. His aunt was not at home and this was the time to explore. He set out his mind and walked fast, his heart beating faster and faster.With a new born courage, he pulled the door open(To his surprise, it was not locked). He let out a gasp when he looked inside. The castle was all new and looked very beautiful.The paintings on the wall and the furniture intrigued him and the place seemed very beautiful .Yet when seen on the outside, it looked very old. Now, his heart was beating even faster and he looked about for sometime, wishing there would be somebody out there to experience this.
Jack moved tactfully as a thief and went to the second room.The second room was even more bigger and it looked fabulous. The things Jack had never seen and touched were there and there was a even a jar of candy.The candies tasted delicious and he pocketed a few of them, bearing in mind that his aunt loved candies.The room even had a pleasant smell and soft music was playing.From where Jack didn't know.The third and the final room was
visible and its door was emblazoned with the words "Welcome to the land of tomorrow".Jack was afraid at first and he didn't want to enter. But the words had an effect on him and he went in. What gave Jack the thrill of his life was the tools present there.He couldn't guess what they were but they extraordinary. There was a big gadget that played songs and a machine that was attached to the wall. When Jack went near the machine it let out chill air and he was surprised beyond words.He stood there for sometime and went further. He was liking this very much. Aunt Lucia will praise me he thought, with a mischievous grin
.Next, he came across a gadget
that looked exactly like this.Jack was enthralled and he was besotted with the beautiful shining gadget. His eyes shone with luminescence and he grabbed it. All he wanted to do now was to show the gadget to his aunt and let his aunt know proudly, of his exploration.He hid the gadget safely.He didn't want others to know about his finding. There was always time to check out the other tools. He safely bolted the door and ran as fast as his legs could carry him.When he found his aunt busy cleaning the dishes , he felt sorry for an instant, His aunt, on the other hand, seeing an excited Jack, asked him what the matter was.He asked her to close her eyes and told he had a present for her.
When Jack fumbled for the beautiful gadget inside, all he could find was a piece of paper.When he opened it, he found the following words;
"Dear Jack,
What you saw was not an illusion. To put it simply, you had time-traveled today and the gadgets you found there belong to the 21st century.The one you had put in your pocket is called an I-phone. The castle you entered is an enchanted one and you can avail all the benefits while you are there; but not outside. Once you bring any of the gadgets outside, all you'll find is a piece of paper. You can come to the castle as many times as you want and enjoy, but never take anything outside.Also, this secret should remain only with you. If you ever tell this to others, the castle will never let you in."
Jack was petrified, for an instant. His hands became stone cold and he stood where he was, like a statue. Meanwhile, his aunt who had now opened her eyes asked him what gift he had brought. Jack, regaining his consciousness, planted a kiss on her cheeks and left the place, almost immediately.
While in his room , Jack was restless and irritated. Even if he felt great about discovering the castle and time-traveling, he felt bad about not having been able to get the i-phone , or so the paper said.
Jack still goes to the enchanted castle once in a while with the same eagerness but he's no longer that excited. If there's some kind soul out there who can provide an iphone to Jack, i'll be the first person to be happy.Why don't you make Jack happy?
